Nope, I didn't fall off the face of the earth...

The last few times I went to post on here, I had trouble uploading pictures and doing basic paragraph formatting, so I kind of drifted away from the blog and started a business Facebook page instead, since it was easier to upload pictures.

In the meantime, I've been up to "the usual" - sewing, teaching, and working on Altar & Hearth Magazine. Right now we're working on Issue 4, and I've had to do a lot of it since the main editor has a new baby (#6 for her and her husband, so she's just SLIGHTLY busy).  It's supposed to come out March 30, ideally, which is Easter Wednesday.

Nothing too exciting going on otherwise...

Irene Ulanowski Obituary

Today was the funeral of one of my best friends.  I knew her since I was 11 or 12, saw her nearly every week, talked to her on the phone, went shopping with her, went out to eat - the works.  It didn't matter that she was 63 years and some months older than me.  She was like a third grandma and a great girlfriend all in one. Her name was Irene Anna Ulanowski, and she was born on August 7, 1927, in Hamtramck, Michigan, as the fifth child and second daughter of Anthony and Anna Kotowski, staunch Polish Catholics.  Her parents decided to name her Anne Marie, but their oldest, seven-year-old Janina, was so excited and kept exclaiming "my Irene!" that then eventually settled on a compromise (apparently the three boys in between Janina and Irene, Chet, Hank, and Stanley, weren't outspoken enough on the name topic to have an influence). Catholic Girls Afternoon Out

Well, I was going to start out by posting all the things we talked about in article format, but I just realized that some of my little demo sketches are somewhere on the home computer rather than on my flashdrive, and the blog will not let me copy and paste them from a Word document.  Grrr.  Therefore, I will start with the pictures instead.  (That's probably what all of you wanted to see first, anyway.)  Congratulations, Angela!  Gift Certificate: Angela Robbins was the lucky winner of the 50% off gift certificate; we did waive the "must be present to win" rule because so many people had to leave early, but by lucky coincidence Angela was still there anyway. Thanks to everyone who participated, and to Sister for drawing the ticket! Mini Fashion Show: Then we did a very small fashion show focusing mainly on bridal gowns.  We did look at the other outfits but we left most of them on the hangars this time.  Wedding dresses are much more interesting!
